Join MACAA
Members and visitors are highly encouraged to join the Massachusetts Association of Court Appointed Attorneys (MACAA). MACAA is the sole bar association (or any other entity) dedicated exclusively to the preservation of the Massachusetts private counsel system of indigent representation and public defense. This system has been determined by the American Bar Association to be a national model system due to its reliance on mostly private counsel. Because of this system, indigent defendants are afforded zealous, independent representation, and the taxpayers are afforded a more cost-efficient means of the delivery of these constitutionally-mandated services.
To join MACAA or donate to its critical effort to save the right to genuine representation for indigent Massachusetts citizens, please go to: http://macaa.pairserver.com/
FOR ATTORNEYS SEEKING TO JOIN THE “MASSCRIMINALAPPEALS” LISTSERVE:
1) Please copy and paste then print out and complete (including your signature) the below Information Sheet/Acknowledgement/Confidentiality form.
2) Scan the signed form then email it as an attachment (in addition to the below process) to the moderator, William S. Smith, Esq.: holdenattorney@gmail.com. Kindly include “MassCriminalAppeals” followed by your last then first name in the subject space.
3) Apply to join the listserv by going to: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/massachusetts-criminal-appeals
Please use the “join” request system which includes its own messaging facility. Specifically, click the blue highlight to join the group. Then, in the box for additional notes on the bottom, please type in your name and the town or city in which your office is located.
Do not click the link that says, “email moderator/administrator.”
PLEASE BE SURE TO APPLY WITHIN ONLY A FEW MINUTES OR SO OF WHEN YOU EMAIL ME THE Information Sheet/Acknowledgement/Confidentiality form. This way, I will be able to easily cross reference the automated application email I will receive from the listserve system against the Information Sheet/Acknowledgement/Confidentiality form I will have already received.
The site moderator will then cross reference your email address with your signed acknowledgement on file. Therefore, BE SURE TO SIGN UP FOR THE (GOOGLE-BASED) LISTSERVE USING THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS YOU PROVIDE BELOW.
Please note: This is a privately-run listerve. CPCS has no role in the administration of either the listserve or the MassachusettsAppeals website. As such, please do not contact anyone there if you are having difficulty joining. Instead, call the moderator at: 774-317-9287 and leave a message outlining your issue if he is not available.
MODERATOR WILL NOT APPROVE ANY MEMBER APPLICANT NOT IN CONFORMITY WITH THE ABOVE.
Thank you.
